Participating in the "Digitalization: Opportunities and Risks for the Global South" international seminar held in Berlin was a remarkable experience. From the 24th to the 27th of March 2022, I had the privilege of attending this seminar, which held particular significance for me as a student of social science, with a focus on development economics and data science. The seminar provided profound insights into the potential data risks associated with digitalization.
The transformative impact of digitization spans across various sectors globally, encompassing the economy, agriculture, climate, nature, and individuals' daily lives. During the seminar, we delved into this topic from diverse perspectives, delving into both the opportunities and the potential hazards tied to digitalization. Through comprehensive discussions, we gained a comprehensive understanding of how to harness the benefits of digitalization while mitigating its associated risks, thereby facilitating a smoother integration of digital technologies into our everyday lives.Beyond the seminar's structured activities, we embarked on a memorable exploration of Berlin. One memorable night, we embarked on a captivating midnight tour of the city, witnessing its alluring beauty and meticulous planning. Additionally, we dedicated an entire day to visiting historical sites, spiritual landmarks, parks, museums, and administrative institutions. Notably, we had the unique opportunity to attend a session at the German Parliament House and to reflect upon the significance of the Berlin Wall, symbolizing both division and unification. This academic journey would not have been possible without the organization by STUBE, and I express my heartfelt gratitude for facilitating this enriching seminar and unforgettable trip.
