Hiking from Bhaktapur Srijana Nagar to Shankhu was a journey that etched profound spiritual memories into our hearts. From the moment we (Me, Dr. Avaya Shrestha and Dr. Him Lal Shrestha and other our dear friends) set foot on the trail, we knew we were embarking on a transformative experience, one that would connect us with the divine beauty of nature.
Our first stop, the Changu Narayan Temple, stood as a testament to the rich spiritual heritage of the region. As we explored its ancient grounds, we felt a sense of reverence and awe, surrounded by centuries-old architecture and intricate carvings that whispered stories of devotion and enlightenment.
Moving forward, we ventured Brahmakhel through the enchanting Changu forest, a sanctuary of tranquility and natural splendor. The forest path guided us gently, leading us deeper into the embrace of nature's embrace. As we walked, we discovered various herbs along the way, their presence reminding us of the delicate balance between human beings and the natural world. We discussed their significance, marveling at the wisdom contained within the healing power of nature.
Indrayani and Shalinadi, the flowing rivers that accompanied us on our hike, lent a soothing soundtrack to our journey. The melodious symphony of their waters harmonized with the songs of the birds perched among the branches of towering trees. We found ourselves captivated by the vibrant dances of these avian creatures, witnessing their joyful celebration of life.
In the midst of the forest, we shared conversations about the importance of preserving the greenery and natural environment. Our hearts resonated with the belief that it is our responsibility to protect and nurture the earth, not just for ourselves but for the entire ecosystem and the diverse tapestry of life it sustains.
The trail led us to Kageshwari, where we were rewarded with a breathtaking panoramic view of the lush green fields of Manhara. The vista stretched out before us, a canvas painted by nature's skilled hand. We stood in awe, humbled by the vastness and majesty of the landscape, realizing our small place within it.
Throughout our hike, we indulged in the nourishment provided by the earth itself. And, we savored the flavors of local organic foods, such as Makai Vatmas, Chaku, Churpi and fruits which we carried with us.
As we reached the end of our journey, we found ourselves spiritually renewed and refreshed. The hiking experience had the power to still our minds, calm our hearts, and awaken a sense of profound peace within us. We realized that connecting with nature was the key to unlocking the door to tranquility, to a healthy life, and to the blissful realms of spirituality.
In the embrace of the forest, the songs of birds, the dances of trees, and the beauty of the natural world, we discovered the immense power of hiking as a spiritual tool. It allowed us to shed the weight of our worries and immerse ourselves in the present moment. We became attuned to the rhythms of the earth, finding solace and rejuvenation in its embrace.
Our journey from Bhaktapur Srijana Nagar to Shankhu taught us that nature is not just a backdrop for our lives; it is a sacred sanctuary that holds the key to our spiritual well-being. By nurturing our connection with the natural world, we can find harmony within ourselves and become instruments of love, peace, and healing for the world around us.
