I cherish the sweet memories of our picnic organized by the National Human Rights Foundation (HURFON) on 1st April 2023 at Durbar Resort in Bhaktapur. The moment I received the invitation from Bhawani Prasad Kharel, the president of HURFON, my excitement knew no bounds. After studying in Germany for 1.5 years and being engrossed in the research for my thesis in own country, the prospect of joining the picnic and spending quality time with friends and colleagues was truly delightful.
Early in the morning, a lively bus arrived to pick me from a nearby chowk. On the way, my classmate of the University in Germany, Amy also joined accepting my invitation, as she was also interning in Nepal. The bus ride was filled with joyous music, and as we made our way to Bhaktapur, we picked up more friends, who added to the infectious energy. We danced, laughed, and savored the picturesque journey.
Upon reaching the Durbar Resort, I was overwhelmed to see many familiar faces from my time working at HURFON before leaving for Germany. Reuniting with old colleagues and respected sir filled my heart with happiness.
The beauty of Durbar Resort was enchanting. The lush greenery, birds singing, and cool breeze made for a perfect setting. Nature seemed to smile upon us, and the day held the promise of unforgettable moments.
We began the picnic by enjoying a delightful breakfast and introducing ourselves to new acquaintances. We sang songs, danced to the rhythm of our hearts, and exchanged laughter that echoed through the surroundings. We did sightseeing by exploring nearby tourist attractions. As the day progressed, we relished a scrumptious lunch and continued our festivities with reciting poems and playing games, such as Hadi-Futai, it was full of fun. The day's magic was accentuated by a gentle drizzle that brought joy to our hearts without dampening our spirits.
As the sun began to set, we gathered for a delicious dinner, savoring the taste of the food and the sweetness of camaraderie. The bonds we formed, the fun we did, the pictures we took and the memories we made became cherished treasures, ones we would hold close to our hearts forever. Thank you, HURFON, for providing me with the opportunity to experience such a fun-filled and memorable picnic.
The day ended with the same vibrant bus ride back, our hearts filled with gratitude and contentment. The laughter, the camaraderie, and the joyous moments made this picnic an unforgettable chapter in my life- a day that will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
